About

Sudi M. David

Refusing the official explanation.

Philosophy and conspiracy theories got there before software did. Both start from the same refusal — that the surface account of how something works is the whole account — and both go looking for the mechanism underneath. One of them taught me to ask what would have to be true. The other taught me what happens when nobody checks.

Debugging is that instinct with a laboratory attached. The system insists it is fine; the logs say otherwise; you get to find out who is right. I'm Sudi David, a full-stack engineer in Lubumbashi, and I do it on software other people's work depends on — banking bridges, loan management, school administration, agricultural value chains. The kind of system where a bug is somebody's afternoon, not just a failed request.

EXPERIENCE

Where I've Worked

  1. Consultant & Entrepreneur

    Apr 2026 — Present

    Almafrica · Lubumbashi

Building software for inclusive agricultural value chains — the systems that connect smallholder farmers to the buyers, financing and logistics further up the chain. Consulting alongside it.

  2. Full-Stack Engineer

    Feb 2024 — Apr 2026

    IST Africa · Remote

Led the redevelopment of a school management system for Danish schools, starting with the Absence module. Worked across distributed teams spanning several regions.

  3. Full-Stack Engineer

    Feb 2021 — Jan 2024

    Altech Group · Kigali (Hybrid)

Managed a team of four and shipped a loan asset management system. Integrated Spark Energy and Omnivoltaic into the business process, and the Xero and Telerivet APIs to cut the finance team’s manual workload.

  4. Full-Stack Engineer

    Apr 2018 — Dec 2019

    Fintech International · Kigali

Built a reporting system for AB Bank on top of CHEQUEPOINT that cut user-side paperwork by 70%. Automated file generation into NCBA’s core banking system and replaced manual reconciliation with a balance-checking web service.

  5. Full-Stack Engineer

    Feb 2017 — Mar 2018

    Fintech International · Kampala

Connected local banks to the central bank through CHEQUEPOINT. Migrated a legacy banking system to MSSQL and ASP.NET, reducing user-facing errors by 85%.

BEYOND CODE

The Rest of It

Mostly in places where the software has to work the first time — banks, lenders, schools. Here is the rest of the picture.

Education

BSc in Information Technology, Sikkim Manipal University (Kampala), 2013–2017. Graduated in the top 10% of my class.

Facebook Developer Challenge, 2018

Built JusticeBot — a chatbot that explains legal procedures in plain language and connects people to legal services for free.

Languages

Swahili and French natively, English at C2.

Currently

Building at Almafrica and consulting. Still writing microservices in my own time — most recently an auction platform, to work the patterns end to end rather than read about them.
